Hacking Update:

Although there is an ongoing police investigation, you should know that the Pendleton Police Department has identified and interviewed a suspect in the hacking events that occurred yesterday throughout the District.  At this time it appears there is a lone suspect and they are a Pendleton student.  Further details on the suspect will not be released.  Police will be continuing with their investigation and working with the District Attorney’s Office regarding any charges.  The District for its part will be determining the appropriate level of sanctions.  The District is still gathering evidence as well and will determine the appropriate course of action once its investigation and review of the facts are completed.

As earlier released, the district has taken some initial steps to increase security including changing student passcodes, providing updates to current practices, and is reviewing additional software and apps that can make breaches like this more difficult in the future.  We want to thank the IMESD IT Department for their initial response and investigation and for the work of the Pendleton Police Department in bringing this unfortunate incident to a timely resolution.

Respectfully
Chris Fritsch

Respetuosamente,
Chris Fritsch
