Welcome to McKay Creek Elementary – Home of the Mustangs
Welcome to McKay Elementary, where all students belong, succeed, learn and grow. McKay is Mustang Mighty and boasts a reputation of rigor, engagement and kindness. It is nestled near McKay Creek and stables approximately 250 first through fifth grade Mustangs.
McKay has phenomenal teachers (two for each grade level) who practice instructional excellence, respond to the needs of all students, and who are innovative. The entire staff knows our students’ names, enjoys coming to work and supports each other while serving you and your children. We promote high expectations for active learning while increasing emotional awareness, self-management, and leadership in all of our students. The staff at McKay is dedicated to meeting students where they are and identifying and addressing the learning needs of all students through enrichment and student-specific interventions in reading, writing and math.
Our theme for the 2022-2023 school year is “Reimagine, Reconnect & Recharge – our why.” As we continue moving closer to things being more normal, defining our new normal and continuing to meet the needs of our students, it is significant that we remember our “why” of our profession. We will continue to work around this theme all year.
McKay has an active parent club, and you are encouraged to participate in meetings and help with the planning of activities that bring a community feel to our school family. The relationship that we have with our families is one of my many favorite aspects of McKay Elementary and I am extremely proud to be your Principal.
