Last month, the Pendleton School District focused on attendance. The district-wide goal for attendance is 94%, while McKay Creek Elementary currently has a 97% rate.
According to Patti Thorne, Child Development Specialist at McKay:
We continue to do the Every Day Matters program where classes keep track of their attendance. They are rewarded as a class each time they hit 15 days. We also keep track of each class and their attendance percentage and how it compares to our school percentage. Right now our school percentage is at 97% which is amazing and each class is 95% or above. We also will be rewarding students four times a year when they have attendance at or above what the state expects of us which is 94%. Students who struggle with attendance are monitored and interventions are put into place to help get them to school.
