Step Two of the Thoughtexchange Engagement Process

Dear Parents, Staff and Community Members,

The Star step of the Thoughtexchange engagement process is now closed.

This spring we invited you to share your thoughts about our schools. We then invited you to review and prioritize your own thoughts and the thoughts of others by placing stars next to the ideas you liked most. Our goal was to get a sense of shared values and priorities from our schools and community.

We're excited to report that we had over 700 individuals respond. Participants shared 1,537 thoughts and assigned 38,820 stars to their top priorities from across the district. We are still reviewing the wealth of information we received and look forward to sharing the results with you in September.

Your feedback is vital to Pendleton School District’s strategic planning process. If you were one of the many people that participated, we thank you for taking the time to contribute your thoughts and priorities.

Superintendent, Pendleton School District

School Attendance - Every Day Matters

In 2013-2014, the Pendleton School District’s attendance rate was 93%. The PSD strives not only toward 100%, but to have the best school attendance rate in Oregon.

National research shows a clear connection between chronic student absenteeism and poor performance in school and on standardized tests.

Poor attendance in the first month of school can predict chronic absence for the entire school year.

Missing just 2 days a month means a child misses 10% of the school year.
